Hello! My name is Megan, and this is my seventh year as a reading intervention teacher. I grew up in the Capital Region of NYS (upstate, not the city), moved to the country for 5 years - taught in two school districts for 4 years (2+2), and now I'm back to my old stompin' ground!

When I was about 8 years old, I said I wanted to be a teacher. I even named what college I wanted to attend, while writing about what I wanted to be when I "grew up". I made that whole dream come true, and couldn't imagine being in a different profession.
I currently teach in a FABULOUS suburban school district. I don't think I could dream up a better school if I tried. I have worked with struggling readers in grades K-5, while emphasizing hands on learning, and developing an early love of reading. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, which is a multi-sensory approach to teaching literacy skills. Since being trained in this method, it has changed my teaching and I'm "hooked on phonics"!
While my Masters is in Literacy, my undergrad specialty was Math. I definitely consider myself a data nerd. Although I don't love testing, I love what data analysis can do for improving teaching practices and how it can enhance differentiation in the classroom.
I started my TeachersPayTeachers store, Thyme to Read, during the summer of 2015. Since then, it has been a developing collection of resources I use to support my students. My passion for hands-on learning, data and the Orton-Gillingham approach are evident in the resources I have made available to support other teachers.

When I am not teaching, you will find me being a wife and mom. My husband is in higher education, so that makes for interesting dinner conversations. We have an amazing little boy, who is the light of our life. And finally, our family is rounded out by our silly, loving pup. We spend our summers at the family lake house relaxing and recharging the batteries. I love being outdoors, boating and "beaching".
In my opinion, the best part of teaching has been learning from others. I enjoy connecting with educators from around the country, and world. By opening the doors of my classroom I have learned and been inspired by many. The teachers I have collaborated with, have empowered me to take risks and explore new ways of reaching my students. I hope to share new ideas, strategies and ways to engage your students, so you feel empowered as well.
Finally, be sure to follow me on Teachers Pay Teachers, Instagram and Facebook. They are the best ways to get an insight into my classroom for even more tips and ideas! I can't wait to connect with you.

HI! I am wondering if you would ever consider selling a completed blending binder? If so, what would you charge and how can I order one? Thank you,
